Cornerstone GIS Opens a New Division Involving 3D Modeling

Snowshoe, West Virginia

Cornerstone GIS now offers 3D modeling for developers, builders and real estate agents. The company was asked to create a virtual tour of the Sawmill Village development that is currently under construction on Snowshoe Mountain, West Virginia. The virtual tour will provide a magical glimpse at what the first phase of development will look like when finished, and as the models are placed over the development's master site plan, it also gives prospective clients a glimpse of what the next phases of development may look like.

There are several benefits to 3D modeling. Currently developers and builders offer prospective clients two-dimensional renderings, or drawings, of homes that are in the pre-construction phase. Such renderings offer the client one single view of what one, maybe two, sides of the home will look like when finished. 3D models, on the other hand, offer the client as many views, from as many angles, as desired. The models provide an exceptional visual of the home prior to build-out, and include land and curbscaping.

Another benefit of 3D modeling lies in providing developers, builders and clients the opportunity to implement and visualize possible changes in construction within the model before the structure is actually built. Many developers and builders offer clients the opportunity to buy change-orders, and what better way to visualize a change-order than through 3D modeling. In this way, 3D modeling can save all those involved a great deal of money. Perhaps the most important benefit of 3D modeling is the ability to animate the models and display that animation via media players on the world wide web. We are living in the information age, and by utilizing the internet businesses reach millions of people that otherwise would not be reached.
